Ecological interactions

Possibilities Because of how this is an island where species are able to thrive, there are many opportunities for all sorts of species to live here. Some may be there to help out ecologically, and others may be users of the island. Nonetheless, this island was made for the purpose of helping out the environment, and if there were invasive species, it's definitely doing it's job.  -Many insects that take up sanction here on this island. They either use the island as a feeding ground, or different types of insects as a source of food. -Beavers, they have plenty of logs to chomp down on, which allows them to use it for whatever they need it for.  -Potentially, there could be bees that pay a daily visit here. They're able to collect pollen from plants, allowing them to bring it back to their hive and feed the colony. -Birds are a huge one. It can vary from all sorts of  birds, such as Seagulls, Bushtits, Robins, and even Crows.

Plants Western Hemlock : The western hemlock is a very large tree. It can reach up to heights of 30-50 meters tall.  Commonly found in Western North America, this means the tree is likely to be around the pacific ocean or located in temperate rain forests. Vine Maple : This plant is part of the maple family. It's found in Western North America. Grows in height to 5-8 meters but can sometimes be larger.  Nootka Rose : The Nootka Rose can vary in height, usually growing to 2-10 feet tall. It's part of the perennial family. This plant is native to Western North America. Douglas Fir : An evergreen conifer tree, it's also native to Western North America, and one variety of this tree is found along the coast. The other one grows around the rocky mountains. Shore Pine : One of the many common trees in Western North America. The Shore Pine is a part of the pine Genus, which means it's a evergreen conifer. What is Habitat Island?

Habitat Compensation Island is a man-made island located in the Olympic Village area of downtown, Vancouver. What's remarkable about this island is the fact that it was made from old materials leftover from construction work sites during the 2010 winter Olympics. Materials include rocks, rubble, cobble, concrete, sand and boulders. Interestingly enough, this island was created as compensation for the removal of another shoreline area! Thanks to the law, we now have a wonderful space for species to thrive and a welcoming community for families to enjoy.                                               Below is an attached video of Habitat Island
